Horse Hair & Bird
Feather Pottery:
Produced in the Black Hills.
By Turning Leaf Design.
Horsehair Potter is fabled to have come from ancient
Indian tribes that wanted to preserve the spirit of
their horses that were lost in battle. As the pottery
cools, horse hair is gently laid in strands. Carbon
deposits from the burning hair leaves kinks and turns
creating a unique look for each pot. |

Raku Style Pottery:
By Turning leaf Designs.
Raku Pottery was developed in Japan
over 400 year ago as the Ceremonial Tea Ware of the Zen Buddhist
Masters. It was preferred by the Masters because of it humility, its
tasteful unpretentiousness, its simple naturalness, and its
deliberate avoidance of luxury...all very intrinsic to the Zen
philosophy.
